MTCSV SUNDAY SCHOOL

WELCOME

From childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
— 2 Timothy 3:15

Mar Thoma Church of Silicon Valley Sunday School is part of the Mar Thoma Diocese of North America and Europe(Western Region ), which is affiliated with the Mar Thoma Sunday School Samajam of Thiruvalla, Kerala, India..

We at MTCSV Sunday School are committed in working with parents to teach children to know, follow and share Jesus.

During the Pandemic, Sunday School is conducted online through Zoom platform. Sunday school starts with Fellowship every Sunday afternoon at 4 PM and is followed by Bible-based classes for children from Nursery through 12th Grade. The children explore the Bible and study how they can apply it to their lives today. The teachers strive to provide a creative environment for the children. The curriculum also focuses on the history of the Mar Thoma Church and the meaning behind the rituals we practice today. We are presently blessed with 72 students and 14 teachers.

It is only through the sincere effort, dedication and continued prayers of our students, teachers, parents and the rest of the MTCSV community, that we can continue to help every child experience Jesus in their lives.

SUNDAY SCHOOL SAMAJAM

MAR THOMA SUNDAY SCHOOL SAMAJAM

The reformers realized the importance of Bible Study, as essential for spiritual renewal and growth. The opening of Sunday Schools thus became a natural development in the way of Christian nurture. The formal inauguration of the Sunday School Samajam comprising all the Sunday Schools which had already been started in the parishes took place at Maramon Convention in 1905. Mr. V.P. Mammen (Later, Vicar General V. P. Mammen Kasseessa) was elected as the General Secretary. The growth and development of the Sunday School Samajam as one of the leading Christian Education organizations in India was the result of the extraordinary organizing ability of Rev. V. P. Mammen and his untiring efforts during a period of 47 years. In those days, though with limited travel facilities he visited churches in different places, traveling in bullock carts and riding bicycles. He organized syllabuses for the different grades and published the lessons to be taught in various classes. A publication entitled Sandarsini began to be published in 1911 containing articles helpful to the students, teachers and parents and lesson notes for Sunday School teachers. Since 1952 text books are published for the various classes. From 1977 the curriculum of the Christian Education Council of India is followed by the Sunday School Samajam.
